Mangoes Selecting A Mango:Pick up the mango and carefully inspect the area around the stem. If the area looks plump and round, the mango is ripe. Holding the stem end up, smell the mango. If ripe, it will emit a fruity aroma. Squeezing a mango is not always an accurate test for ripeness, because some mangoes ripen from the seed outward to the peel. However, some mango varieties will yield to gentle pressure. Another indication of ripeness is color change. Most mango varieties will turn yellow as they ripen - although the Keitt and Kent varieties may very well be ripe while they are green. Visit the following links for recipe information:
